Chakras & The Reflexologies: Hands

So Wikipedia definitely gets this wrong … hint, hint: Best not to let the opposition write the description — just sayin’.

“Reflexology is an alternative medical practice involving the application of pressure to specific points on the feet, ears, and hands. It is based on a pseudoscientific system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work on the feet and hands causes a physical change to the supposedly related areas of the body.”

As anyone who has ever had a reflexology treatment knows, it works. Mostly we know that because it hurts when it works. An ouch on the foot will tell a skilled reflexologist exactly where tension is stored in the rest of the organism.

All the reflexologies are aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine — TCM.

So how does it work with chakras?

Chakras are the major component of the human energy system — the one that powers the other eleven! They’re three-dimensional energetic vortices suspended in front of the spine in the center of the body. I view them as the Divine seen through a prism.

Consider the image above.

It shows the electrical points for chakras on the human hand, and their significances.

Choose an issue you want to work out, and pay close attention to the sensations on your hand when you gently press the corresponding chakra.

So say I’m in an ongoing power struggle at work. It most affects my 3rd Chakra, but also my 5th. Since power struggles so often reflect issues of self-worth and self-esteem, I’d focus on massaging the outside edges of my palms until I felt a shift in my 3rd Yellow Solar Chakra.

Then I do it every time I was in the power struggle. It’s subtle. No one will notice (except you) and you’ll be shocked at how effective these small actions can be.

Sometimes the best way to work with a chakra that’s feeling challenged is to work around it. Using body correspondences like reflexologies can by-pass the conscious mind, and get you in touch with your deepest self.

The best thing about reflexology is that it can’t hurt you and it might help you. In pain? Worried about something? Guilty over another thing? Follow your intuition, and try it. You might be deliciously surprised.
