Chakras & Reflexologies: Face

So Wikipedia definitely gets this wrong … hint, hint: Best not to let the opposition write the description — just sayin’.

Reflexology is an alternative medical practice involving the application of pressure to specific points on the feet, ears, and hands. It is based on a pseudoscientific system of zones and reflex areas that purportedly reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands, with the premise that such work on the feet and hands causes a physical change to the supposedly related areas of the body.

As anyone who has ever had a reflexology treatment knows, it works. Mostly we know that because it hurts when it works. An ouch on the foot will tell a skilled reflexologist exactly where tension is stored in the rest of the organism.

All the reflexologies are aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine — TCM.

So how does it work with chakras?

Chakras are the major component of the human energy system — the one that powers the other eleven! They’re three-dimensional energetic vortices suspended in front of the spine in the center of the body. I view them as the Divine seen through a prism.

Consider the image above.

It shows the basic “zones” for three of four aspects of a human:

The bottom, basically half, is related to Body.

The top, basically half, is related to Mind.

The central green stripe is related to Heart.

And the rose stripe (which I added) is related to Spirit.

Humans are four-fold creatures.

When it’s time to make a change in your life, all four aspects have to buy in or the change won’t stick.

This image also delineates general meanings for the Left side of the face — feminine, emotional, and intuitive. And, the Right side of the face — masculine, analytical, and logical. Personally, I prefer to think of the left side as Magnetic, and the right side as Dynamic, or, said another way … one side draws things to you, the other goes and gets them.

Choose an issue you want to work out, and pay close attention to the sensations on your face. The little twitches, the itches, the micro-movements. See if you can read your own face as if it’s a map leading to treasure, for that, surely, is what it is.

Keep a list throughout the day and review it in a quiet moment. I’m betting you’re able to move forward on the issue.

Sometimes the best way to work with a chakra that’s feeling challenged is to work around it. Using body correspondences like reflexologies can by-pass the conscious mind, and get you in touch with your deepest self.

The best thing about reflexology is that it can’t hurt you and it might help you. In pain? Worried about something? Guilty over another thing? Follow your intuition, and try it. You might be deliciously surprised.
