Chakras & Exercise: Fourth Green Heart

Chakras are the core of the human energy system. Working with these magical, restorative components allows you to heal, grow, and learn from the inside-out. I see them as the Divine Life Force itself viewed as a prism.

For the next few posts, I’m going to address some of the energetic benefits of using energy medicine via specific daily exercises in combination with the chakras. They are based on the chakra work of Alexa Ispas.

The Grace of the Fourth Green Heart Chakra is Love.

Learning to work consciously with whatever brings out your personal ability to love, whether one feels an excess as in a cup of overflowing emotion, or wary, untrusting energy, can be enhanced by using these recommended exercises:

Do a Bottom of the Sternum Thump. This will switch on the energy of your heart chakra.

Give yourself a compassion session. This will allow you to process your feelings at the end of your day and release difficult emotions. Once you do this, the difficult emotions will pass. They will no longer be there to generate physical discomfort or become the basis for self-sabotaging behavior.

Spend quality time with someone you truly connect with on a regular basis. This is highly enjoyable and keeps your heart chakra strong and vibrant.

Let’s go over them, one at a time, and I’ll explain.

Trace your sternum (breastbone) to its fullest extent in the center of your chest. Tap it gently. This will make you aware of your Fourth Green Heart Chakra. Check in with yourself. How do you feel right now?

A compassion session is often a new idea for most of us, especially because this practice is focused, not on others, where we usually focus compassion, but on ourselves. Go through your day. Review any “unfinished” emotional business. Now pretend it wasn’t you, but a dear friend who had the experience. What would you tell her? Him? Do that for yourself.

Because of the tsunami of information that bombards us all day in and day out, I recommend learning to be alone with someone else present as one of the best replenishment practices there is. I don’t always need to talk to my husband about a particular thing, but just sitting together, each doing our own thing, is nourishing. Every once in a while, one of us speaks, and a spark of understanding arcs between us.

These three, done daily will energize and balance your Fourth Green Heart Chakra. Try them for 21 days and see what happens.

A healthy heart chakra is the foundation for all personal relationships in the rest of your system.

Remember, Beloved, the most important thing about the chakras is that they form a system.

They need your attention on integration with one another. This is what will allow you to live in integrity — your own wholeness.
