Chakras & Emotional Masteries: First Red Root
There are an infinite number of ways to approach chakras, and to work with these magical, restorative components of the human energy system. Remember that chakras are the principle components of the human energy system. I see them as the Divine Life Force itself viewed as a prism.
For the next few posts, I’m going to address the singular, major emotion that lies at the core of the eight major chakras. The First Red Root Chakra has Patience at its core.
There are teachers who say that the goal of emotions and chakras is mastery, but I disagree. Mastery sounds to me a little too much like control, and one of the largest errors at the core of the patriarchal system that is late-stage capitalism is control.
Emotions aren’t about control, except insofar as it’s better if we can choose our moments. Instead, our emotions are an E.W.S. — Early Warning System.
The Grace of the First Red Root Chakra is Life, and inarguably, life itself does mandate patience, doesn’t it?
Patient is an interesting word etymologically. It comes from roots meaning (believe it or not) passion.
Think about that for a minute, instead of being patient, which always seems as far away as the moon to me, why not try for passionate expectation instead?
And when you’re feeling impatient, break the word down a little bit and read it this way: I’m patient.
Life does ask our patience, also our witness, forbearance, curiosity, and care. If your overriding emotion in a situation is impatience, try passionate expectation instead and see where that takes you. Oh, and wear red to remind yourself!
