Chakras & Emotional Masteries: Eighth Rose Thymus
There are an infinite number of ways to approach chakras, and to work with these magical, restorative components of the human energy system. Remember that chakras are the principle components of the human energy system. I see them as the Divine Life Force itself viewed as a prism.
For the next few posts, I’m going to address the singular, major emotion that lies at the core of the eight major chakras. The Eighth Rose Thymus Chakra has Witness at its core.
There are teachers who say that the goal of emotions and chakras is mastery, but I disagree. Mastery sounds to me a little too much like control, and one of the largest errors at the core of the patriarchal system that is late-stage capitalism is control.
Emotions aren’t about control, except insofar as it’s better if we can choose our moments. Instead, our emotions are an E.W.S. — Early Warning System.
The Grace of the Eighth Rose Thymus Chakra is Compassion, and inarguably, life itself does require some compassion, doesn’t it? And compassion itself asks that we witness the lives of others.
Compassion is an interesting word etymologically. It comes from Latin roots meaning to suffer with. I think of it as the principle activity of Witness. To witness the experiences of others, and ourselves, is to give those experiences meaning. I’m with Viktor Frankl: “Human beings can live without a lot of things, except … meaning.” I agree. Meaning is what makes life worth living, and meaning, whether you know it or not, is up to your discretion.
Think about that for a minute, instead of living as though everything were random, what if you began to practice the realization that everything has the meaning you give it? That it can all change in the twinkling of an eye depending upon what you choose to witness.
Life does ask our witness to its natural existence, and to allow ourselves to suffer with others. It’s a deep, deep learning for most of us, and once we get it, compassion — without codependency — becomes the easiest thing in the world.
Life also asks our consideration, care for both self and others, and whole host of other things dependent upon circumstances. If your overriding emotion in a situation is numbness, try imagining that you’re asking instead for compassion in someone else’s behalf and see where that takes you. Oh, and wear a rich rose pink to remind yourself to be more conscious that your witness is what creates your compassion!
